Abstract

Aims: To understand the resource baseline, faunal characteristics, and spatial distribution patterns of tachinid flies (Tachinidae) in Northeast China, and to reveal their ecological regulatory functions.

Methods: In this study, 2,951 specimens of tachinid flies from the Greater Khingan Mountains, housed in the Collection of Insects, Shenyang Normal University, Liaoning, China (SYNU) were used as research material to conduct systematic sorting, taxonomic identification, and faunal analysis. Results: The study recorded 193 species of Tachinidae belonging to 4 subfamilies, 18 tribes, and 85 genera in the Greater Khingan Mountains, accounting for 30.91% and 15.48% of the total genera and species of known tachinids in China, respectively. Among these, 21 species were new records for Inner Mongolia, and 47 species were new records for Heilongjiang. Faunal composition analysis revealed that the tachinid flies in this region were absolutely dominated by Palaearctic components, with endemic Palaearctic species accounting for 26.94% and Palaearctic-Oriental shared species accounting for 62.69%; the sum of these two faunal components reached 89.63%, representing the dominant distribution pattern of tachinids in the Greater Khingan Mountains.

Conclusion: This study improves the distribution data of tachinid resources in the Greater Khingan Mountains, clarifies their faunal composition, and can provide baseline data for regional insect diversity conservation and biological control of pests in agricultural, forestry, and grassland ecosystems.
