Species diversity of Ascidian in the coastal China Seas

Abstract:

So far,66 species of ascidian have been recorded in China seas. Where 5 species are found in the Bohai Sea,21 in the Yellow Sea, 24 in the East China Sea and 53 in the South China Sea. The number of species increases from the North to the South. In the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, Styela clava has great amount in density reaching 8100 Ind./m2 and it never distributes beyond Luoyuan Bay to the South. Styela plicata has great amount in the South China Sea, and greatest density reaching 2225 Ind./m2, it never distributes beyond Luoyuan Bay to the North. Ciona intestinalis and Molgula manhattensis distribute in all the seas along the coast.
