The special feature in this issue including four papers highlights the outstanding universal value of Shennongjia World Natural Heritage Site, its exceptional biodiversity, and unique biological and ecological processes in the world. The picture shows the Hubei subspecies of the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus roxellana hubeiensis), a representative species in Shennongjia, which has been listed as an endangered species by IUCN. Shennongjia World Natural Heritage Site is the only distribution area of the Hubei subspecies of the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey, as well as the eastern edge of the distribution area of the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey.
