Abstract: In the present study, analysis of 42 gene loci of native pigs in Southwest China were carried out by meansof horizontal starch gel electrophoresis. Genotype and gene frequency were general1y similar, the polymor-phism was found only in Tf. Hp. Amy-1. CEs. 6PGD and EsD.Genetic variability was quantified as follows: the proportion of polymprphism loci(P) and the averageheterozygosity (H) were 0. 0714 and 0. 051, respectively. These values were low comparing to those ofdomestic pigs reported. Using the gene frequencies of the 42 loci, the genetic distance between six popula-tions were calculated by two formulae of Nei and Rogers, and UPGMA dendrogram were made. From thedendrogram, it is clear that Xiang pigs is far distanced from other pigs.
